Description

This is a Butter dish made from a 20mm thick 20 x 70 cm plank of Oak. Included are what is needed with or without butter knife. Lid is cut in layers that must be glued together as seen in one of the pictures. Toolpaths are arranged to limit tool changes. This is also a two sided carve using the 3 pin method.

Ideal Materials

Mixed woods

Instructions

On side one, the carves are strait forward.

Remember starting side two that you must run the first toolpath directly into your spoil board and place the 8mm dowels to align the piece, do not change the x y datum.

After securing the piece using the dowels run remaining second side carves.

For assembly I glued the two "ring" pieces of the lid together and then sanded the inner area before glueing the "cap" piece in place for final sanding.

For the knob, I inserted a screw in the predrilled hole and put that into my drill to make achiving the desired final shape faster and more even.

For the knife, one of the 3d tabs in the middle was partially left to adjust proper fit into the slotted knob.
